In the quest to build the best eye cream, companies are always on the lookout for the latest ingredient mixes. Ingredients in eye creams sure are getting interesting as companies try to differentiate their products from one another. Each eye cream usually has a solid base of ingredients that are common in anti aging creams, and from there it just gets downright interesting. Here is an overview of several ingredients being formulated in some of the most popular eye creams today.
The eye cream I enjoy using personally, Elite Serum, started a lot of the buzz when acai berry extract was added to their award-winning eye cream. Acai berry extract is one of many fruit extracts being used today for the high level of antioxidants it possesses. Other ingredients in the fruit family include pomegranate extract, which is found in a wrinkle cream called “wrinkle system.” Fruit extracts are becoming more popular in anti aging creams, and they are no secret to skin care. If you use exfoliating creams or scrubs you certainly have seen fruit extracts used in some shape or another.
The Elite Serum also uses resveratrol, which is found in red wine and red grapes. Resveratrol needs no introduction to health and wellness buffs, as it’s a quite hot topic these days and is found in skin care products, vitamins, herbal supplements, and weight loss supplements.
Precious metals, such as gold, are also making a splash in the anti aging skin care industry. Many lines of products have started to use real 24k gold in some shape or form in their product lines. Gold has been used most often in high-end spa treatments, such as facials. It’s been said that even Cleopatra used a gold facial. Platinum is also a hot commodity in skin care. It’s used in one of LaMer’s famous line of products that sells for almost $1,000. Yikes!
Other ingredients that are making waves are stem cells. You can take a look at a product made with stem cells right here. Dermajuv Eye Revolution Gel. It’s said that the stem cells of apples (here we go again on the fruits!) works well in eye creams. It certainly is a cutting edge ingredient you will start to see more of as time passes and companies play catch up to others as far as ingredients goes.
The battle for market share continues, and many anti aging companies are stepping up to the plate with research and development that is showing other people that they are for real. In a battle for market share and the almighty consumer dollar, it will be fun seeing where this list of new, cutting-edge ingredients takes us.
