Easy and Inexpensive Ways of Organizing your Kid’s Bedroom

Those who have kids know how quickly their bedrooms can end up messy and completely disorganized. After organizing and sorting out toys, and putting things in their proper places, it does not take long before the room is back in the same unorganized condition. One day it looks neat and tidy, and the next day it looks as if a tornado touched down. Organizing a kid’s bedroom is time-consuming, and it is definitely not a pleasant task for kids or parents.

Instead of continuously organizing, sorting, and picking up toys, books, magazines, and other items that end up here, there, and everywhere, consider the following easy and inexpensive ways of organizing your kid’s bedroom. With a few simple solutions, tips, and organizing tricks, keeping your kid’s bedroom organized will become easier than ever. Best of all, kids will be able to help keep their own rooms clean, neat, and well arranged with a few organizing solutions.

Free Organizing Containers with Lids

It is a shame to throw away perfectly good plastic containers with lids, especially containers that can be used for organizing, sorting, and storing kid’s toys that belong in the bedroom. Save empty ice cream buckets, empty baby wipe containers, and any other sturdy plastic containers that can be used for organizing and storing all types of toys and kid’s craft supplies. Empty ice cream buckets fit perfectly on freestanding bookshelves, and they can be decorated with craft foam cutouts, stickers, decals or anything else that will make them more decorative for the bedroom. Why buy plastic containers for storing and organizing toys when many are thrown away on a daily basis? Save money by reusing what you can, and recycle what you cannot use around the house. It all adds up!

Organizing and Storing Stuffed Animal

Plush animals can take up a considerable amount of valuable bedroom space, and just like toys, they sometimes end up all over the bedroom. Place them all on the bed, and the child has no room to sleep. Pack them away, and you might as well get rid of them. Instead of having stuffed animals running rampant all over your kid’s bedroom, consider purchasing a pet net. A pet net attaches to the walls in the corner of a bedroom, and a single net will hold dozens of stuffed animals of all sizes. They can be taken down for play, and when put away, the stuffed animals end up becoming a part of the decorating scheme. Leave a few favorites on your kid’s bed, but the majority can be organized in an unused corner well above floor level.

Book Organizing

Shelves for organizing and storing books are a must-have for a kid’s bedroom, and you do not have to spend a small fortune on shelving to store and organize books. Buy pairs of sturdy milk crate containers in colors of your choice, and tie or wire them together at all four corners. Sturdy colorful ribbons work very well when connecting milk crates, and they look nice too. You can make the entire storage unit as large or as small as you want, and it will provide a considerable amount of storage space for organizing and storing books while adding color and interest to the bedroom. This is an inexpensive solution for a very common storage problem, and anyone can build a set of milk crate shelves.

Shoe Organizers for Storing and Organizing Toys

A handy shoe organizer that mounts on a door is good for far more than storing shoes. An over-the-door shoe organizer with clear pockets is perfect for holding kid’s toys. These types of shoe organizers are inexpensive, and they are ideal for storing small parts, little cars, dolls, game pieces, and other small toys that usually ends up lost in the bottom of the toy box or all over the bedroom floor.

Even the most expensive organizers available will not help keep a kid’s bedroom clean if kids are not instructed to pick up toys on a regular basis. Consider making it a rule that one toy should be put away before other toys are brought out. Although this strategy does not always work, along with the use of handy organizers, your kid’s bedroom will stay neater and cleaner than ever before.
