Do You Use Space Heaters

On cold winter days, it can be nice to have a little extra heat in the house. [nmslink:Space heaters, Space heaters] will do the job and do it safely if you are aware of possible dangers. Here are three rules for safe space heater use.

  1. Keep the heater three feet away from anything in the room. Drapes, papers, and other materials can catch fire from the heat if they are closer.
  2. Turn the heater off at night and when you leave the house or apartment.
  3. Be sure to have a [nmslink:carbon monoxide alarm, carbon monoxide alarm]. Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas. By the time you notice its effects, it could be too late to get out. Have a smoke alarm outside bedroom doors and in other areas of the house.

About Admin

As a Christian mom of 3, I am always finding new ways to help the busy mommy. Our life on our small farm in East Tennessee affords me the opportunity to appreciate the value of hard work, family, and all that has been given to us. As some may know though, life on a farm is always busy. The Busy Moms blog was created as a place to share the lessons I learn for mothers much like myself. It takes a community to raise a family and the blogging community offers this community. Share with me your stories of being a Busy Mom and tips you have found along the way.
