The shed: a beautiful retreat or office

[nms:arrow shed,1,0,0,640]

People who have yearned for their own exercise studio or office, but don’t have room for one in the house, are going outside. They are remodeling the shed or building new backyard rooms.

Called garden buildings in Europe, they are popular in many countries. In the U.S., architects say they’re part of a trend to move the outdoors in and the indoors outside.

An accomplished do-it-yourselfer can build a 10-foot by12-foot room from a kit for as little as $2,000 to $10,000, though many people are willing to pay much more. They want a retreat where they can “get away from it all.”

Adding electricity, heat, and air conditioning brings the price up by several thousand dollars, but worth every penny of it.

To check prices, visit a lumber yard, or go online to www.OutdoorsStorageSheds.com, where you’ll be able to research, and even buy a kit for your own “backyard shed” turned “perfect retreat”.

Most buildings come with a floor. If your ground is level, you can support the floor with patio stones or concrete blocks.

About Admin

As a Christian mom of 3, I am always finding new ways to help the busy mommy. Our life on our small farm in East Tennessee affords me the opportunity to appreciate the value of hard work, family, and all that has been given to us. As some may know though, life on a farm is always busy. The Busy Moms blog was created as a place to share the lessons I learn for mothers much like myself. It takes a community to raise a family and the blogging community offers this community. Share with me your stories of being a Busy Mom and tips you have found along the way.
