How to handle a stalker

About 1.4 million Americans are victims of stalkers each year, not including celebrities.

  1. Psychologists recommend confronting the stalker only once. Then avoid responding, which would give the stalker what he or she wants, your attention.
  2. Tell friends, relatives, and coworkers about it. Provide pictures of the stalker and caution them against giving out any information about you.
  3. Have an unlisted phone line installed and give out the number only to a few people. Let an answering machine take the stalker’s calls so you’ll have evidence against him or her. Document every contact, then inform the authorities.
  4. Get a dog, and carry [nmslink:pepper spray, pepper spray].
  5. Maintain a positive outlook because police won’t be much help without evidence of an assault. Most stalkers, however, lose interest if ignored.

I hope you stay safe this year.

As a Christian mom of 3, I am always finding new ways to help the busy mommy. Our life on our small farm in East Tennessee affords me the opportunity to appreciate the value of hard work, family, and all that has been given to us. As some may know though, life on a farm is always busy. The Busy Moms blog was created as a place to share the lessons I learn for mothers much like myself. It takes a community to raise a family and the blogging community offers this community. Share with me your stories of being a Busy Mom and tips you have found along the way.
