Starting a Family Recycling Project
Although most of us know that recycling is important to the health of the planet, it can sometimes be difficult to get started with recycling in your home. Too many times it’s just easier to toss something in the trash than to take the extra couple of steps it would require in order to recycle it. In order to succeed with home recycling, it can often be easier if your family adopts a team approach. Not only will starting a family recycling project spread the work around between all family members, but it will also make the entire process a lot more fun.
Plan a Family Meeting
The best way of embarking on a family recycling project is to first hold a family meeting. Include all members of the family, so that everyone can provide their thoughts and input on the subject. Start by stating that as a family, there is a lot of waste that could be prevented if everyone just took a few extra minutes to recycle. It can be helpful to visit your local recycling center or do a search online for recycling information and tips prior to having your family meeting, so that you can share ideas and recycling techniques for everyone to consider. Then, as a group, decide upon a goal. You might choose to start small and set a goal as a family that all aluminum cans will be collected and recycled. Or, you might choose a more ambitious approach and set up a full-scale effort for recycling and reusing everything you possibly can. Your family’s attitude towards the project as well as your current style of living will factor into your actual method of implementing your recycling project but be sure that everyone is on board with the idea.
How to Begin
Depending on your specific family recycling goals, you might need some equipment or storage space to get started. For example, if you are simply collecting aluminum cans, you might only need some clear plastic trash bags. If you are taking a more full-scale approach to recycling, you might need to clean the garage in order to make room for separate recycling bins for each type of material. Or, if you have decided not to throw kitchen waste and yard waste in the trash, you might need to do some research on setting up a compost pile. You can make this research and preparation more fun for the whole family by giving everyone specific assignments. Then, call a weekly meeting to check on the family’s progress.
Reward Yourselves for a Job Well Done
It can add a lot of fun and interest to a family recycling project if you attach a few rewards to your overall goals. For example, go out to dinner as a family each time you make a trip to the recycling center to drop off all your collected items. Or, give each family member points each time they recycle an item, and let them keep track and trade in points for small rewards. This can make the entire project exciting and fun, as well as help to insure a higher level of success.

Keeping Your Children Entertained This Summer!
It can be difficult to know what to do with your children through the summer holidays. It’s a long amount of time to keep them occupied and we all know that they need plenty of it! The following article has been written to help parents, baby sitter and child minders or the following summer holiday.
Don’t forget that there are plenty of companies who sell children’s toys and crafts for next to nothing. Don’t think that you will have to pay a fortune to get things to keep the children occupied. You can also create craft materials from old house hold objects.
It is a good idea to keep the children away from computer games and the TV for a proportion of the day. If it’s sunny there is no reason why the children cannot play outside or play a board game or craft on the patio or grass.
By purchasing craft packs you not only stimulate their mind and improve their hand-eye co-ordination but you create a fun activity. It’s far better for their mental health to be doing craft and board activities as opposed to sitting in front of video games.
I would recommend searching on the net for deals on games for the children over the holidays. You can often get voucher codes and cash back options.
Don’t forget that you can also take them out to feed the ducks or collect wild flowers. You can teach them about wildlife and also show them different types of flowers. Not only do you teach them something different but they are outside in the fresh air and communicating with people and wildlife.
Have fun this summer and don’t forget that there are simple and cheap options to keep your child entertained this summer. I hope you enjoy yourself!

Independence Day Is A Fun Time For Families Everywhere And Can Be More Fun With Crafts
Many people love Independence Day because it is a fun and exciting holiday. Kids especially love this holiday because of the fireworks. Do you decorate your home for the holidays? Why not get the kids involved and let them help decorate? They can do this by making crafts.
One Independence Day craft that they can have fun with and is easy is crayon scratching. You will need to have crayons of all colors but it is very important that you have a black crayon, white paper, paper clips or a used up pen. The kids will need to draw various designs on the paper. Make sure they color darkly with all of the colors that they use. Once the paper has been all colored in you want to have the kids color over the whole page with black crayon. It is very important that you have the children press down hard when they color with the black crayon. Once it is all colored the kids can use the paper clips to scratch out their own fireworks.
Another one that all kids will enjoy is torches for Independence Day. You will need to have old newspapers that you can roll into a large cone shape. The kids can paint the cones anyway they want to. When it is dry they can put red and yellow tissue paper into the cone so that it looks like flames. Then they can be the Statue of Liberty and celebrate this holiday in a more fun way for them.
