Scrapbooking – Other Types of Paper

There are various types of paper that can be used for backgrounds or journal entries for various effects. For instance, rice paper is a fine paper that can add elegance to a scrapbook page. Conversely, papyrus is a coarse almost wood like paper creating an exotic feel to a scrapbook page.
Be aware, however, that some of these paper alternates are extremely difficult to work with, break easily, and may not preserve well.
The right grade of oil for your car
Make sure that you are using the right grade of oil that is required by your car or truck. Oil grades are measured in viscosity, which determines how much the oil can resist flow. Grades of oil include:
• 0W (this is the thinnest) (“W” stands for winter)
• 5W to 25W
• 20 to 60 (60 is the thickest)
Check with the owner’s manual that comes with your car for more information about the grade of oil that is required by your car.
Make sure that you use the right grade of oil to ensure that your car runs as smoothly as it should in all types of weather.
If you find that you are always running out of oil when you need it you can buy car oil in bulk at stores such as Costco so that you always have oil available for your vehicle.
If you can’t change the oil in the car yourself ask a family or friend to give you a hand.
Homemade Yogurt
Ingredients:
1 quart heavy cream
2 T plain yogurt (with live culture)
2 T splenda sweetened DaVinci syrup
Put heavy cream into heat-proof container, and put in a pot of simmering water which comes about half-way up the sides of the container. Simmer the cream for 20 minutes. Remove the jar from the water and allow to cool to room temperature. Stir in plain yogurt, making sure it has live culture. Cover and leave at room temperature for 48 hours. Refrigerate.
I used vanilla syrup, and this was excellent. It was very rich, though, and I would probably use whole milk next time. (The yogurt culture converts the lactose in the milk to lactic acid, and thereby “eats” some of the carbs. One cup of yogurt made with milk has about 4 carbs, rather than the 11-12 that is listed on the container of milk.)
Delicious!
