Alison’s Journey: Book Review
“The dedication in this book is a work of poetry in itself. I had a distinct recollection of ‘Sleeping with the Enemy’ when reading this book, but this story has some very unique twists and turns. The characters seemed very real to me – I live in a small town and we are just like that!
Here, we are shown the psychological cycle of the victim of domestic violence (Alison) and her growing awareness that some things can change for the better, trust can be had and given, and faith in inner strength can grow.
Like many who crawl out of hellish conditions, Alison did not do it on her strength alone, but through a few strong, giving individuals who contributed a gesture or a friendship along the way. Yet, most healing of all is to find a new, healthy love and good, solid relationships with others – a most difficult thing for victims of abuse to do. If it was the author’s intent to use the main character to bring depth and understanding into what people go through in situations like these, then she accomplished this goal admirably!
Readers are shown how being rich, good looking and well-educated – having all the benefits one could desire - cannot lead to happiness. Mr. Bruce Cockburn says it best in a song of his which says ‘though chains be of gold, they are chains just the same’.
Amey Tippett has accomplished a work of art with this book. I really felt like I was right there watching the children play during the festivals and feeling the pain and fright of impending danger, and endured the hellish nightmares along with Alison.
This was a fantastic read and I would not hesitate to recommend Alison’s Journey

How To Set Up A Professional Home Office
Each day, more and more people are getting caught in the ‘work from home’ fever. Government as well as companies is quickly embracing this type of ‘work from home’ scheme as there are many benefits such as employee being able to spend more time with the family and saving office space rental as well. First of all, identify a location within your home where you can work conductively without any noise or distraction. Is there a spare room in the house or is there any place where you can create a space to work in? Make sure that there is sufficient lighting during the day time.
Once you have chosen that area, consider doing up wall shelves to put your stationery and office document to save space on the table. As table space is usually small, consider buying a ‘miniature’ desktop computer / laptop to put on the table. More spaces can be created by attaching the house phone to the wall as well.
If there are clients coming to your place, you might want to add in a sofa at a corner and a few magazine racks for them to browse through the magazine while they are waiting. To give your home office a ‘more professional’ look, you might want to get creative and decorate the wall with nice paintings or paint the wall with a nice color. Try adding some greenery such as potted plant or flowers as well. By taking the effort to spruce up your office, you can enhance a more professional company image when client steps into your office.
As you can see, the expenses really do add up when you spruce up your home office image. One cost saving idea is to buy used office furniture. Check out places like the classified section in your newspaper, flea market or bankruptcy sales as you can get great bargain for your office furniture.

Lip Tips
Nice lips are every woman’s wish but as we get older some things grow and some things shrink, and never in the order we wish. Your lips are going to get smaller and thinner. Now stop! It’s not the end of the world. There are plenty of things you can do to make your lips look fuller.
If you’ve got a really big pocket book you can have collagen injections but if you are like most of us and can’t quite afford to go that route don’t worry there are lots of makeup artist tricks that will have give you the illusion of larger pouty sexy lips.
Lipstick always looks best when your lips are nice and smooth. To keep your lips smooth exfoliate them and always wear some type of lip balm when not wearing lipstick.
Start by applying lip liner to define the shape of your lips and make them larger. By the way you can use it to make your lips look smaller too. Make sure your lip pencil is nice and sharp so as to create a very narrow line.
Outline your lips with the liner then fill in between with your lipstick. The liner will also stop your lipstick from bleeding through. Never draw fake lips, always stay within the natural lines of your lips.
Start at the v in your lips with short strokes then outline the rest of your lips then fill with your lip liner. Now apply your lipstick, blot, then reapply. If you want your lips to look fuller you need to apply a lighter shade in the center of your lips.
A matte lipstick will last longer than any other type of lipstick but it is drying. A gloss lipstick will make your lips look fuller. Sheer lipstick doesn’t last very long at all.
Neutral shades will match everything while a medium color will make your lips look bigger. The moisture the lipstick the more likely it is to bleed.
When buying lip balms makes sure they have SPF protection. Some lipsticks also have SPF protection. It’s a good idea to use it all the time if possible.
