Vintage Christmas Ornaments are Great Christmas Decorations
Christmas is that time of the year when people of all social strata, rich and poor, office worker and corporate honcho, enjoy quality time with their families. This is one thing which makes Christmas so special for everyone and sundry.
Another special thing about is the extravagant decorations that people use to decorate their houses. While you can always decorate your houses with the currently available decorations, some people prefer to buy old, vintage Christmas ornaments in order to cherish the old moments. While for some people, these have sentimental value, for others they hold great nostalgic value. If you are feeling nostalgic then this article is for you!
So which are the best vintage Christmas ornaments? I’m not asking you to buy stuff from the 1600s. The best stuff can be found from the Victorian era, particularly the mid-19th century period, followed by the 1940s and 1960s. Vintage ornaments of these periods could make for attractive Christmas decorations!
Vintage Christmas ornaments can prove to be costly if you don’t know where to get the best deals from! Don’t make the mistake of buying them from your local antique shop or you will end up burning a deep hold in your pocket! One of the best places to buy such ornaments are the online auction sites such as or online stores such as Amazon.com; both these places are excellent for getting some affordable deals! Another place to buy them are your local flea markets.
Yet another place you can expect to get cheap deals on vintage Christmas ornaments is your local dollar or thrift store!
In order to save money, it is also important that you buy these ornaments during the off-season period! What is the off-season period? Well, anytime before the Thanksgiving season sets in, because with the Thanksgiving season, the prices of the ornaments also begin to rise, as Thanksgiving is the precursor to Christmas.
Vintage ornaments don’t mean just the traditional glass balls you are familiar with! The beads, tinsels, artificial , and decorations of the Victorian era all make for great Christmas decorations; my personal favorite is of course the artificial Christmas tree of the Victorian era!
Don’t think that you will look old-fashioned if you use vintage Christmas ornaments as Charismas decorations. Far from that, your guests would truly be surprised and amazed by the dazzle of these ornaments, and at the same time, feel nostalgic and sentimental about the good old times!

Does the very thought of Christmas fill you with fear and trepidation? I don’t blame you at all! At a time when our economy is at an all-time low, when credit card debts are increasing rapidly, when bankruptcy has shot up like never before, it can be quite difficult to think about Christmas without a little fear in mind.
So what is the reason behind this fear?
The fear is that of having to spend a lot of money on Christmas presents and toys so as to please your family members and relatives. Look, the adults in your family are probably well aware of your financial condition, and they might sympathize with you since they’re understanding, but are children going to listen?
On one hand you want to avoid that kind of embarrassment, and on the other, you want to save money on Christmas toys and presents. So what is the way out?
Well, believe it or not, it is possible to celebrate Christmas on a shoestring budget provided that you make the preparations right. What I mean to say is that you and your family should prepare yourself to face the real financial situation instead of hoping for a miraculous lottery win!
1. Discuss the whole thing with your family: Your family is from whom nothing should be hidden. Let your entire family know about your current financial situation, and don’t forget to include your children in the discussions! If you don’t discuss things with your children, they would feel as if they are not part of the family. Far from what you might believe, if you make your children understand your current financial situation, they wouldn’t be unnecessarily stubborn.
2. Cut down on the reciprocal gifts: Since you won’t be in a position to send huge gifts to your relatives and friends, ask them to cut down on their expenses with regards to Christmas gifts and presents they’d be sending to you. Rather than getting miffed with you, they would only be too happy to cut down on unnecessary expenses!
3. Make some money: Instead of sitting idle over your misfortune, why not try to make some quick cash for the upcoming Christmas celebration? If you have unwanted utensils, clothes, books, gadgets, tools etc., in your house, sell them on . You will mint some nice money from it.
If you are a good writer, you can even write and sell a few Christmas story books.
Another way to make money is to take up a few odd jobs. Part-time jobs are great for making some quick cash during the Christmas season!
4. Save money: Remember that a penny saved is a penny earned. There are a lot of ways you can cut down on unnecessary expenses! Instead of buying new gift bags, re-use the old ones you have. Instead of buying ‘famous’ gifts, buy cheap gifts from thrift stores. Instead of buying your friend a brand new book, rent an old book from your local library! Avoid buying too much food that would simply go waste!
These are some of the ways you can save money on !
Christmas Toys: Monopoly Here and Now World Edition
The board game of Monopoly has been a world-wide sensation for several decades. Chances are, you grew up playing Monopoly, and your parents grew up playing Monopoly. Now, it’s time to introduce your own children to the fun game of Monopoly. But, don’t just introduce your kids to just any version of Monopoly! Introduce them to the latest version of the iconic game, Monopoly Here and Now World Edition.
Monopoly Here and Now World Edition was introduced by Hasbro in summer 2008 and is the first international edition of the game. That’s right, it’s an international version that incorporates different cities from around the world into the game board. Hasbro conducted a worldwide vote to find out what cities people wanted to be included on the Monopoly Here and Now World game board.
Nearly 6 million votes were cast worldwide to determine the winning cities. Montreal received the most votes and replaced the most expensive property, Boardwalk. Riga, Latvia came in second and takes the spot formerly held by Park Place. Voters were also instructed to write in cities that weren’t included on the list that they’d like to see included. The cities with the most write-in votes were Taipei, China, and Gdynia, Poland. These cities took the place of the least expensive properties on the new Monopoly Here and Now World game board.
Monopoly Here and Now World Edition also includes updated Community Chest and Chance cards to reflect different events from cities around the world. For example, people might visit Spain for the Running of the Bulls or New York City for New Year’s Eye.
As a result of this update, Monopoly Here and Now World is now a great way for children to learn about cities around the world that they might not know about otherwise. It’s a great cultural and geography lesson disguised as a board game. That’s why you’ll want to pick up your very own version for Christmas this year. You’ll be teaching your family about the world while spending quality time with them as well. It’s a win-win situation!
